Dear Church Family:

 UCC has always been a church with a heart for the community and the world. We seek to help people find hope and direction through a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. University was first established in 1910. It was created to meet the needs of the families living in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. We have met that call through the past faithfulness of men and women of faith who sacrificed their time, talents, and finances carrying God’s message to us across the generations.

The growth we have experienced over the last few years is not a result of human effort, intelligence of the pastors, or the ingenuity of our programming - God is simply blessing us and our simple commitment to the truth of Jesus Christ. 

The history of UCC seems to parallel the surfing phenomenon.  Through the years those before us have stood with their eyes on the water watching the ‘swells’ of humanity come to our shores.  Like the dedicated surfer, they paddled out, sometimes in uncharted and dangerous waters, to meet the next wave that God was sending them.

We are now close to entering our 2^nd century of reaching the lost in our area.  As we celebrate this lasting legacy we find ourselves faced with challenges.  But just as generations before us met similar challenges and relied on their greatest asset – their faith in God, we too are beginning an aggressive project to meet the needs of LA and beyond that will leave a legacy of inspiration, sacrifice, and faith. This challenge is our next wave that God has sent our way.

 After prayerful research the elders and church body have approved the purchase of a house in the community for the senior pastor and his family to occupy.  We feel this is vital to insure stable pastoral leadership for today as well as for future generations. This project also includes the upgrade of our sound system with new technology, building upgrades to the education building and nursery and new youth and children’s equipment needed to minister effectively in these growing areas.

We have received the $975,000 loan to accomplish all of this, now we want to pay off this loan as fast as possible to free up valuable ministry dollars to reach more people for Christ.

This campaign is only possible if we stand united together. I ask you to pray and consider how the Lord is calling you to participate in this stewardship journey.

God is boldly calling us to grow His church. These are exciting times at University. What a defining moment in our church history this will be! I’m confident that each and every one of you will want to be a part of it.  This and future generations are counting on us to step up and be generous.

I am honored to be your minister and so thankful for the faithful, committed congregation God has raised up at University Christian Church.  I encourage you to partner with God and with the vision set before us. A wave of this magnitude can be intimidating and scary, but with God’s help and God’s provision, coupled with God’s faithful people, we can do it! 

May God give you wisdom and clarity as you seek Him while we celebrate our lasting legacy and join the great adventure as we move forward into our second century of reaching people for Christ.
