We value being a church where Christians from diverse backgrounds can worship freely together. We have laid aside the differences of our backgrounds to unite through the love of and the lordship of Jesus Christ. We accept the Bible as the inspired word of God, and our only rule and authority. We strive to grow in our character to be more like Jesus as we serve God together.
A new sanctuary seating 600 people was erected in 1924, costing about $60,000. Life was more settled after the war years, but soon there were signs of changes to come. Families were looking for suburban living. In 1959 the church voted to sell this property and relocate.
We purchased the Centinela property and ground was broken for the new facility in October 1961 and the move was made in May 1962 after an auditorium, offices, kitchen, nursery and Sunday school rooms were erected. The first service was held in the fellowship hall, the present Education building. Before long the auditorium had to be enlarged.
The sanctuary we now enjoy was dedicated on November 6, 1966. Continued growth soon filled all the available space, and the church moved into another building program. The large fellowship hall with class rooms on the second floor was occupied in June of 1983.
UCC will be turning 100 years old during 2010. Over the last few years we have seen the church double in size and now is the largest it has been in its 100 year history.
